Self-promotion that feels awkward. The fear of being scrutinised. Worries about jealousy or criticism. And let’s not forget that persistent whisper of imposter syndrome – these are just some of the reasons many of us shy away from being more visible.
But here’s the thing: visibility opens doors. It can lead to increased income and opportunities you’ve only dreamed of.
People can’t support you, collaborate with you, or champion your work if they don’t know you exist. The key is to build visibility in a way that feels authentic and that reflects your authority, credibility, and values.
So, how do we do that?
There’s a path forward I’d love to share with you.
Over many years of supporting employability and personal branding, I’ve seen firsthand the power of taking ownership of your narrative. My guest for this session, Krista Goon, has been doing just that too – empowering women entrepreneurs through her podcast, Womenpreneur Asia.
And now, after a two-year hiatus, the Thrive Meetups are back.
In this upcoming session, Krista and I will dive into the power of visibility and how you can craft a strong and authentic profile – whether you’re a corporate leader or running your own business. Krista is involved in several activities and projects that allow her to bring her fullest self to the forefront — as an entrepreneur, trainer, consultant, author, and podcast host.
We’ll talk about:
- why visibility is key to gaining leverage in negotiations and collaborations
- the importance of owing and telling your story
- how to advocate for yourself with confidence
- navigating imposter syndrome
- developing strategies that ultimately align with your unique strengths and values
The meetup runs for 45 mins. We’ll begin with a relaxed fireside chat with Krista, then open the floor for questions and broader discussion.
Registration is required. Seats are free, but limited – so sign up quickly.
Hosted by Rowena Morais, Thrive Meetups are monthly gatherings — held either face-to-face or online — designed to support your learning, networking and community building. These sessions are open to women from all walks of life, no matter where you are in the world.
ABOUT THRIVE
Thrive is a women-only private group that I founded in 2017. I created what I was looking for — a safe space where career women could gather regularly or whenever they felt able.
The goal has been and continues to be to empower and elevate women in several ways: by focusing on what we can do to build our professional brand and profile, by facilitating new and growing connections with other women, and by sharing ideas on how to build and showcase our body of work.
Thrive is for women anywhere, supporting those at the start of their careers as well as those who are well-established.
Thrive Meetups are face-to-face or online meetups running monthly. Meetups are typically capped at 14 guests to facilitate optimal discussion and engagement. While Thrive Meetups can provide opportunities for learning, they are ultimately opportunities to gather, engage and network. It is not intended to be a passive experience.
Note: Due to work commitments and a return to study, the meetups were paused for 2023 and 2024.
MEETUP GUIDELINES
Online meetups are complimentary to join for career women only but require registration. Our face-to-face meetups incur a small registration fee as refreshments will be provided. Meetups are limited to 14 guests to ensure optimal engagement and participation for all. If you have signed up and need to cancel thereafter, please provide at least 48 hours notice. This enables others to register. While informative and educational, the online meetup format means that guests are expected to put their video on and to mingle, chat and ask questions. Meetups begin and conclude on time and guests are expected to be punctual. Late entrants (more than 10 minutes) will not be allowed in to avoid disruption.
